MMA PROGRAM

Mixed Martial Arts or MMA is a combat sport popularized by the Ultimate Fighting Championship.  The best fighters must quickly adapt to different opponents, styles, and combat ranges during an MMA fight.  MMA fighting can be unpredictable.  Successful fighters must master a wide variety of techniques, including kicks, punches, grappling, joint locks, chokes, throws, and takedowns.  By combining modalities of boxing, kickboxing, and Jiu-Jitsu, Victory MMA offers a comprehensive approach to making you a well-rounded MMA fighter.

Jiu-Jitsu is a close contact ground-based grappling martial art.  It teaches fighters how to use pressure, leverage, angles, and timing to defeat opponents with chokes, holds, and joint manipulation.  There are limitless variations of Jit-Jitsu movements and techniques.  Practicing Jiu-Jitsu improves your balance, body awareness, and reaction time.

Pairing Jiu-Jitsu with boxing is perfect for rounding out martial arts skills.  Boxing is a striking martial art with fists.  Simple and effective punch combinations from boxing account for many knockouts.  Boxers use four main punching techniques: jab, cross, hook, and uppercut.  Stances and footwork are vital in boxing and translate to other martial arts.  It is the art of putting a fighter in a position to strike and force an opponent to square up and regain stance before returning strikes.  Knockouts occur when a fighter is out of position and vulnerable.  Boxing teaches the importance of stances and footwork to keep an opponent in front, avoid getting flanked or trapped, and circle away from powerful strikes.

Kickboxing is another powerful striking martial art that uses both the hands and feet.  It focuses on speed and devastating strikes at a distance using punches, elbows, kicks, knees, and clinch work.  Practicing kickboxing improves timing and reflexes and the effectiveness of powerful strikes.

All martial art modalities have their strengths and weaknesses.  In an MMA fight, fighters must be ready to react to any unpredictable opponent.  Close in, Jiu-Jitsu grappling is extremely effective.  When opponents are at a distance, striking with boxing and kickboxing techniques are efficient for knockouts.
